Direct Sales (Selling) provides business-minded professionals the opportunity to sell products and services directly to interested consumers. Though direct selling has been known to be a person-to-person business opportunity, organizations have created flexible and innovative means for Direct Sales Consultants to market and sell products virtually online.

Direct Sellers are typically referred to as Consultants or Independent Consultants.  They work on a 1099 (Independent Contractor) basis and is rarely considered an employee of the company.  They are in total control of how much money they make – so the more time and effort that is invested, the more money they earn.

When considering a Direct Sales career, one must consider several different factors: Up-front Investment and Income Potential.  95% of home based business opportunities will require you to pay a upfront fee, however the income potential is unlimited.  At the same time, there is no steady stream of income unless there is a residual program where you are paid a commission each time your enrolled customer pays their recurring subscription.

Companies usually provide all back-office supplies such as websites and commission tracking.  Other marketing campaigns and print materials are sometimes available for a small fee; however, most outside marketing costs is the sole responsibility of the Consultant.
